I got really tired this last legislative session with the whining about how many Med.Cannabis patients we have in this state.
Now time for a reality check. When everything is considered we could have many more Cannabis patients than we do now. 1st-the age demographic. Look at the number of elderly we have in this state. Cannabis is a great med for many of the ills which this age group are prone to. 2nd-there are over 18,000 people on SSI alone. Once again the bulk of them would benefit from Cannabis. This does not include many other groups which include cancer patients, eating disorders, chronic headaches. Just to name a few. With all this taken into consideration it would be a viable estimate that we could easily have 100,000 cannabis patients. Our providers who produce this med under controlled conditions for quality and safe products could produce 30,000 jobs minimum. More than that if delivery systems were needed to be set up, disposal systems for unusable plant parts (by the way I got that idea from one you out there). Thats not including spin off jobs like hardware and planting products. As all out there know this list goes on.
With all this we are first and foremost helping patients which truly need it. We are creating massive jobs, using many empty buildings, thus landlords are happy. We have expanded a tax base without raising taxes. With the possibility of even lowering taxes.
This I have and will continue to push. We need a governor who has sense enough to look at what is right, and party be damned. I'm not concerned with anyones past party connections. That is mute at this point. What isn't mute is doing the RIGHT THING BECAUSE IT IS RIGHT. Not because of some misplaced party loyalty.
