I had over a couple of months before entering the Governors race given thought to who I may would consider as a running mate. I had two thoughts on this. 1) to have one from the canna community who would fight our legislature with me on cannabis and job. 2) a better known political figure who would do the same thing. In this I had a couple of thoughts from the 1st catagory and 2 repubs and 4 dems from the second. One of which was Dave Wanzenried. I was sad to see him out of the race for a few reasons, I was equally sad to see him enter it due to my thoughts of a running mate. After he pulled from the race as a candidate I did approach him about staying in it as a running mate. Although one of the reasons, maybe the main one he had for pulling out he would be faced with as a running mate. Lack of funding. There are ways around some of this, so I tried to convience him to consider the offer. Sadly he did decline. I am disappointed, but not mad at him. I do understand and respect his view.
Thinking on what to do next, I looked at my first train of thought again then at a couple of others in the second (political figure). With further thought I made my choice to go with my original thought. I have been in touch with one of the two people concerned. I firmly believe this person could more than carry out the job of Lt. Governor and serve this state well. He knows what we are up against. I believe it is a choice that many would be happy to see become a reality.
Here's to a possible running mate.
