You will see a good number of postings and hear me speak about the growing of hemp and the importance to our economy and many other areas. The benefits of this aspect being added to our agricultural base can not be stressed enough. I will approach this posting from a different angle in order to show just how much the population at a whole can gain.
It has been pointed out that the large farmers are hesitant to make this move out of fear of loosing their subsidies. Although in growing hemp they would by far make out better by doing so. (But that is another subject).
My emphasis here is to the rest of us. We can not allow ourselves to get caught up in the thought of this is a big farmer only issue. Remember the problems we have from putting so much faith in the "BIG GUYS".
Point is, Hemp can be grown pretty much anywhere. Even people with no more than a 1/2 acre to 1 acre of space can grow a decent amount of hemp. Maybe all you have is a little extra garden space, No problem. What I see, regardless of if the big farmers raise it or not. The little guy can. With this effort, co-ops can be formed where the small grower can take their crop. As a co-op all the small growers combining their crops will be able to enter into the market on equal footing with the larger farmers without getting shafted. Think about the figures here. If only 100,000 small growers averaging 1 acre each of hemp could have a decent crop, that could net us 870,000 tons of hemp. This plant normally goes for $100-$125 per ton. That's an average of $112 per ton. On a crop as mentioned above that would be pushing $98 million dollars added to the Pockets of many families.
AND THAT'S JUST FOR THE PLANTS THEMSELVES. Use a value added prospect and actually process the hemp into finished product and the dollar amount soars.
Now here is another good point. This method of growing and moving product is not limited to just hemp. It can be and should be used for tomatoes, onions, or whatever. If we use this to supply food for our own state with this method we not only are able to help people raise their income level greatly but reduce the cost of food for others in our state. If we sell out of state we bring more cash into the state instead of just rotating what is here.
As you all can see this isn't rocket science here. Just simple common sense. To make sure we are allowed to do things like this we MUST remove the narrow minded self serving individuals from office.
Join with me in this fight.
